Checkmate is a profit-charity unofficial zine of fanmade content of Xehanort and Eraqus from the video game Kingdom Hearts.
A portion of the profits will be donated to the Environmental Defense Fund.

Checkmate is a profit-charity, unofficial Xehaqus zine. Artists will be paid for their work and a fixed sum will be donated to the Environmental Defense Fund.
Will you be printing the zine? Are you making merch?
Yes, there will be a physical version of this zine! You can expect to see some new pieces of art and a couple of stories featuring the chess boys and the Scala squad. We will also be making a few merch items such as prints, charms and stickers.
How will contributors be compensated?
As said previously, artists will be paid for their work ; the amount paid determined by what we'll gather with the pre-order. Please understand we will only be accepting contributors 18 years of age or older for this project, as anyone under 18 is not allowed to hold a paypal account. Also they'll receive a free physical zine. Merch will be added on too depending on the pre-order sales.
What is the rating of this zine?
Strictly SFW. But fluff is welcome. Angst too.
Will you be allowing Scala kids too? What about AUs?
Yes! They will be very welcome! The main focus will be on Eraqus and Xehanort, however their Scala friends can join the party too. Wayfinder trio too. Also yes, AUs are welcome!
I don’t write or draw but I can cosplay. May I join in too?
Of course! If you are happy with sharing your photos with us, you are very welcome!
contributor guidelines
General specifications
Size: 16.5x24 cm
Binding: Perfect binding
Page count: TBD
Merch: Prints, Charms, Pins, Stickers and special items
Each contributor will be required to submit a single piece in the categor(ies) they are assigned, but will have the option of submitting more pieces should they wish. However, please note that profits will be divided among all contributors evenly, regardless of how many pieces they submit.
Artists
You are to create at least 1 piece that can be either a spread page or a single page illustration to your standard of completion for this project.
You are welcome to create short comics.
Writers
You are to create up to 2,500 words of fiction to your standard of completion for this project. You are allowed to split your total word count over multiple stories.
Should your total word count go over 2.500, we ask of you to have at least one story that falls under the 2,500 words guideline.
Merch artists
You are to create at least 1 merch items to your standard of completion for this project. You are welcome to create additional unassigned digital merch that will be included with every sale, but these come secondary to your assigned merch items.
Cosplayers
You are to create at least one big single photo or a shoot telling a short story.
